South West Genomic Medicine Service

Join the South West Genomic Medicine Service for a case based introduction to genomics!

Genomics is becoming an integral part of NHS care, with increasing applications across specialties including cancer, rare disease, pharmacogenomics, and rare diseases.

This session provides a practical introduction to genomics through a series of presentations, demonstrating how genomic testing supports diagnosis, treatment decisions, and patient care.

Participants will explore the fundamentals of genomics and gain an understanding of when genomic testing may be appropriate and how it fits within NHS clinical pathways. The session will also highlight the role of the NHS Genomic Medicine Service and the importance of multidisciplinary working in delivering equitable, patient-centred genomic care.

Designed for doctors in training with little or no prior genomics experience, this session offers an engaging and accessible introduction to the knowledge and skills needed to support the growing integration of genomics into routine NHS practice.
